Every year, a University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law selection committee gathers in November to review applications for the Goldstein Law Group Scholarship in Honor of Assistant Dean of Admissions Michael Patrick. This scholarship was started by Frank Goldstein and the Goldstein Law Group in 2008 to honor the, now retired, Fredric G. Levin College of Law Assistant Dean of Admission, Michael Patrick.
Dean Patrick earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in education at Drake University and was a social studies teacher and guidance counselor in Des Moines, IA. He came to the University of Florida in 1980 to serve as assistant registrar at the College of Law.
As a law school student, Frank spent hours working with Dean Patrick making sure he learned everything he could about the law, while balancing both his financial and scholastic obligations. From these work sessions spawned a mentorship that continues to this day.
The scholarship criteria are based on a well-rounded approach to life and the law. While most scholarships are based solely on GPAs and LSAT scores, this one isn’t only for the top tier. Rather, it’s for law students willing to work hard for the passion he or she has for the legal system. We wish all of this year’s applicant’s good luck!
