This past week attorneys from our firm were fortunate enough to attend the annual FIFEC Conference in Orlando, where state and federal law enforcement officials, litigation managers, adjusters and SIU professionals, and insurance defense attorneys gather to share their insights and defense strategies and to keep abreast of current developments in this field. This year’s conference was particularly meaningful as it was a celebration of FIFEC’s 25th year anniversary. Over the course of three days, participants attended many instructive and interactive classes designed to heighten knowledge of prominent fraud issues currently plaguing the insurance industry, as well as methods and tools for combating against the same. Our firm owner and partner, Frank Goldstein presented a class entitled “WHEN CIVIL FRAUD AND CRIMINAL FRAUD WORLDS COLLIDE-SUCCESSFUL PARALLEL CIVIL AND CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS INVOLVING ONE OF THE BIGGEST FRAUD OPERATIONS IN FLORIDA HISTORY. ” This class was designed to highlight the importance of establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between local and federal government agencies and the private sector, so that all participants can work effectively and concurrently to bring fraudsters to justice. In addition, we are proud to inform you that Frank Goldstein, who was a prior recipient of the 2013 FIFEC Attorney of the Year Award, was nominated again this year for that award due to his continued efforts to obtain substantial recoveries for defrauded insurers across this state. Each evening, once the day’s classes were over, we all had the privilege of meeting other FIFEC attendees, spending time relaxing and getting to know our colleagues and clients better. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with everyone, and we look forward to working with all of you in the future.
