I am very excited to be part of the Run Over Autism Walk on April 29, 2017. Almost everyone knows someone with a personal connection to Autism and I am no different. My nephew Robbie, now 23 years old, lives with Asperger’s syndrome, and his story is one I am extremely proud of. Robbie was diagnosed very young after being misdiagnosed with ADHD. Robbie definitely has had his challenges and will continue to do so, but is blessed with parents that never gave up and believed he could do whatever he wanted to. They encouraged him to never accept his limitations. Robbie is the most loving person and he sees people as people with no differences. He also believes everyone should be afforded the same benefits when it comes to medical resources. So much so that he testified before the General Assembly in VA on a bill requiring insurance companies to cover a form of autism treatment. Robbie is very public about his condition. He is an ambassador for Autism Speaks in VA, and he recently began working at Capital One on a special project trying to develop software to help others living with autism.
So of course when Goldstein Law Group learned about Puzzle Peace Now and the Run Over Autism there was never a question we had to be a part of this amazing event. Goldstein Law Group has set a goal to raise $5,000 and if any group can raise it….it will be Team GLG. It is such an honor to work with such a caring group of people that not only are willing to give up a Saturday morning to participate in the Run Over Autism event, but they’ve also to come up with some very unique ways to raise money and to help spread awareness.
Our firm has broken down into 4 teams, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, West Side Wolf Pack, 50 Shades of Pink and the OJs. Each team is coming up with inventive ways to raise money. So far the teams have organized a brunch for just $5 per person, a taco party with all food made to order in the office, and another team is having a pop up sale along with an ice cream social. I can’t wait to see what other fun things our staff has planned.
In addition, several of our vendors are supporting us by making a donation to Team GLG. For every $200 donation we receive we will put their company logo on our team shirts.
